Fire doors should be inspected regularly for signs of wear and damage that may hinder the performance of the door in the event of a fire.
This should form part of your overall risk assessment of your fire safety procedures and maintaining them is a critical part of your fire safety management.
Do I need to have them inspected by law?
Article 17 of the Fire Safety Order makes it a legal requirement to ensure that fire resisting doors and escape doors are adequately maintained in order for them to provide the protection they are installed for.
When auditing the building fire doors are one of the areas that can be identified by the fire service if they are not fit for purpose which can lead to further action such as enforcement notices and prosecution.
How often should my fire doors be inspected?
BS9999 states fire doors should be inspected every 6 months.

Ensure where fitted that any glazing is fitted correctly and the correct rating
