Foam Fire Extinguishers

We are no longer supplying traditional foam units, this is due to the AFFF foam extinguishers (and most water-with-additive extinguishers) containing a chemical that makes the foam resistant to high temperatures and stops the foam breaking down when it is used on a class B fire (burning liquids such as petrol).

 

Up to now, AFFF foams were seen as best practice for offices etc.

 

However, because of the longevity of the chemical used there are environmental concerns, as the chemical breaks down only very slowly in the environment and can therefore accumulate in surface water, soil so we now only provide the environmentally friendly P50 units.
